Help a child enjoy a little bit of childhood without fear of violence or injury.
Over 4 million children in Afghanistan are out of school, and 1 million children under 5 will suffer from severe acute malnutrition (UNICEF*). HAGAR runs centres in destitute remote communities and within refugee camps, so children have a place where they feel safe, physically and emotionally. We provide psychosocial support to help them deal with feelings of fear, grief or anger. Onsite tutors are also at hand to help them learn basic literacy and numeracy skills. Even if it's only for a few hours, they can laugh and play like any child.
