In my twilight years,
amidst the gleams and slumber;
Dreams and ambitions yet alive, I wonder;
To my sedulous yearning and humble effort,
I do surrender;
To seek what I know not,
but to get a pedestal to my musings,
nothing more nothing under.
The Musings of the Mind by Lalit Mengi was birthed during the outbreak of the pandemic in early 2020. It started as a regular tracking of the COVID-19, its fallout and the transformation in our lives. Unconsciously, his style of writing became prose in poetry, generally concluding with benefitting couplets of Urdu poetry. Buoyed by the inspiring comments of friends to consolidate his thoughts and to take it to the next level, this is how the book project took off.
Lalit Mengi B.E (civil) FIE, is an alumnus of REC (Regional Engineering College, now NIT) Srinagar, of its first batch. After tendering service of thirty five years with the Government of J&K, he retired as Chief Engineer in the year 2001. Post retirement, he worked as a consultant for infrastructure and highway projects with NABARD and NHAI.
In support of vulnerable communities that have undergone tremendous hardship during the pandemic, Lalit Mengi is donating 100% book proceeds to HAGAR, to provide recovery care and economic empowerment to survivors of trafficking and abuse.
