Prevent a child from suffering the horror of exploitation.
Unscrupulous agents have built lucrative businesses by targeting and exploiting impoverished families in Cambodia and Vietnam. These families often sell their children as a last resort for survival. In Afghanistan, in addition to domestic servitude, adolescent boys are bought by wealthy / powerful older men as bacha bazi ("dancing boys" for entertainment and sex), and young girls are sold as brides to men more than triple their age.
HAGAR partners with local communities to run workshops and share materials that explain the traffickers' deceptive tactics and schemes. Villagers learn the impact of exploitation and abuse on children, and how to protect their children. Given the rise in trafficking figures, we also highlight avenues for help and how they can access these when needed.
